Broken zips, lipstick stains, sweat marks....all these marks can consign favourite clothing to the bin. But it doesn't have to be this way.
If your sweat-stained gym top has become discoloured, try next:
For cotton clothing, immerse in an enzyme-based pre-soaking agent. Scrub with a nail brush and then machine wash with a biological detergent, adding stain remover to the load.Or use a nail brush to work White Wonder into the affected area before washing.
Zip stuck on your favourite clothes? Try rubbing both sides of it with petroleum jelly, some clear soap or an earbud dipped in olive oil – making sure not to get any on the fabric.
For a quick fix, use wet wipes to get rid of annoying white deodorant marks on dark clothing. To combat deodorant stains in general, rinse your tops under cool water before washing to stop hot water from fixing the antiperspirant chemicals to the clothing, which cause a permanent stain.
Suede needs care, but to save stained suede you will need a suede brush. Use it to remove any dirt or dust from the hide and correct the pile – but allow any damp patches to dry before you start.
