1. First impressions count, so make sure the hall is decluttered – remove things like shoes and bags! Think about a place where you are going to put the extra coats.
2. Clean the living room
This is the place where guests will most probably spend time, so focus most of your efforts here. Clear dust from top to bottom, then vacuum.
3. Kitchen clearout
Clear surfaces and put away as much as you can. Wipe down countertops and the floor. Empty the kitchen bin to prevent nasty smells.
4. Clear the decks!
Make sure your fridge as empty as possible and ready for party supplies
5. Bathroom speed-clean
A quick wipe-down of surfaces and a bit of bleach down the toilet should be enough. Hang up a clean hand towel.
6. Have essentials to hand
Before guests arrive, make sure you know where you can find: a bottle opener, spare cutlery, rubbish bags, paper towels.
