How to clean your beauty gadgets

How to clean your beauty gadgets

Hair straighteners

The plates on hair straighteners can gather dust and dirt, and if you’re a regular user of hair products, such as hairspray, then there is some residue left on your straightener. Always make sure that they are switched off and cool before cleaning. Then use a slightly damp, clean cloth with warm water to rub over the plates to keep product build-up at bay.

Curling wand

Like straighteners, you can use a slightly damp cloth with warm water to clean the barrel of your curling wand. Always unplug the wand and allow to cool before cleaning.

Hair dryer

The air vent on the back of your hair dryer gets a build-up of fluff and dirt, and needs cleaning. The vent should be detachable on your hairdryer. Once it ss off, use a dry toothbrush to remove the dust build up. Be carefull not to damage the mesh.

Make-up brushes

Wet the bristles with warm water (not too hot), either from the tap or in a shallow bowl of water. Avoid getting the handle and ferrule wet, as this can weaken the seal that keeps the bristles in place. Rub a little anti-bacterial hand soap into the bristles. You can use other products, for example shampoo is good at removing grease. If the brush is made of natural fibres, the hair could become rough, so you could also use conditioner to soften your hair. Rinse well with warm water until all the make-up comes out.
